Something For The Weekend – Whitwick Aeromart

Yes folks its that time again. The 24th Whitwick Aeromart is taking place next Saturday, 21st April @ The Hermitage Leisure Centre, Silver St., Whitwick, Leicestershire – 5 miles from junction 22 of the M1 & 5 miles from Junction 13 of the M42. The place to go for flying clothing & equipment, uniforms & badges, aircraft parts, books, paperwork, aviation art, models, general militaria & wartime Home-Front items too. Admission is from 10am (£2) or early entry can be gained from 8.45am (£5). The event closes at 2pm. Any questions can be sent to me directly via my email.

Remember – you can see the kit, touch it, ensure it is genuine, assess the condition accurately & then haggle over the price. Try doing that on eBay…… Support the “Live Events” that eBay is killing off……..

Hope to see some of you there?

Cheers
David

Here here

Hi Andy,

I totally agree – our costs have risen significantly – even since the last one. The hall alone is costing an additional £150 – quite a rise in 6 months. Advertising has also gone up along with postage costs for tickets & forms etc. We have only increased stall prices once in 12 years & that was by £3 around 4 years ago. The price for the public has remained static for 12 years.

As you say, these jumbles are not quick to organise & there is a lot of effort going into them. Without support from both dealers & buyers they WILL disappear & it will happen VERY soon. So, dealers & buyers alike – Please support Andy’s event at Brooklands, the new “Shoreham” when it re-appears & the next Whitwick of course. It could well be your last chance…….

Cheers
David

David – I agree entirely! Collectors events of all kinds (not just aviation) have falling attendances but I feel there IS still life in Aerojumble events. Our experience was that falling numbers and rising costs made it no longer viable at Shoreham, but we are looking at other options and already have an Aero/Auto/Bike jumble fixed for Brooklands Museum on Sunday 15 July. As you say….use em or lose em! A lot of work, effort and money goes into organising these events and it would be sad to see them go. However, David and I cannot afford to run them at cost, or worse, just for the fun of it or as a collectors social event. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL AEROJUMBLE! 🙁 Andy Saunders

The end is nigh…..

Yes, the world ends next week so unless you restart Shoreham quickly then Whitwick was indeed the last of the year! Actually the government are banning aeromarts along with increasing the budget cuts for the RAF.:diablo: OK, I based the “ad” on last Novembers & didn’t edit it very carefully:(

For the record, attendance was down (dealers & punters) but those there seemed happy – on the whole! As of next year we are going to do just one a year – date to be announced shortly.

Aeromarts – use ’em or lose ’em. I suspect Andy will agree with me on this?

My car is already groaning under the sheer weight of aeronautical treasure that I shall be bringing!

How will I ever drift off to sleep tonight with all this excitement?
