Something really wierd is happening to me

I currently have a bad dose of winter flu, which is going around all over the place here right now. But on top of the usual headaches, swimmy head, sore back, bad cough, runny nose, weak legs, etc that comes with the flu, I am experiencing something really wierd that I have never had before, and I wonder if this has happened to anyone else.

I get fits of sneezing, and with each sneeze, I get a really sharp sensation of pain that starts at my backbone between my shoulders, and radiates like burning needles or knife pricks across my shoulder blades, followed by the same pain across the centre of my chest and down my forearms from elbow to wrist. All this takes about 1 – 2 seconds, but as I sneeze in sets of about ten in a row and it happens after each one, it seems to increase in pain each time, to the point where I find myself yelling in pain and nearly collapsing till it subsides.

Is this normal? I have never had anything like it and I’m worried it may be something serious? Any nurses or doctors here who could advise?

Once the sneezing subsides it is ok again, and coughing doesn’t have the same effect. This started about 4 hours ago.

I agree with everyone here who says go and see the Doctor, It may be a case that when you sneeze your straining muscles which give you the pains.
But its worth a check up for sure even if its nothing the peace of mind is worth a fortune.

get it checked out buddy, sounds bad and seeing a doctor won’t cause any harm. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, I’m suffering really badly from Hayfever just now….. I don’t think driving a bike which funnels all the pollen into my helmet helps.

When I sneeze I get the tingle in my sholder then down my arm. Sometimes it’s quite sore on my bicep.

Sounds like you need to see a doctor, mate – and sharpish, at that.

This is no place to obtain medical advice. 😮
