I believe the original plan was to fly the Lancaster, B17, B24 and B29 all in formation. I know the B24 didn’t make it following it’s nose wheel failure, but did they manage to get the B17 together with these 2?

Great photowork.
I was planning for Hamilton but had to cancel.
Visited Hamilton years ago ,great memories specially the Lanc.
A bit unfortunate to see a bright yellow jacket in the cockpit.
I would have brushed out the yellow color ,to balance this great shot.
Can’t wait to see more action from Hamilton.

There was also a formation at an airshow several years ago where the B29, a B17, B24 and the CWH Lanc were in formation together.

I would have thought it highly likely that B29 Washingtons and Lancasters have shared the same piece of sky during the late 40s and 50s?

I wonder if a B29 and a Lanc have ever flown together before.

I not so sure Peter,it looks more original as war weary in the overhead shot of yours.
