And in the 1970s one of the ended up at Liverpool (Speke) Airport and on take off from Rwy 08 there was another Bloody Great Bang from the Stbd Engine wher a Con Rod decided it didnt like the journey. I know as I was watching it from the fence in Speke Hall Ave (you could do that then):D 😀 😀

This was the 1970’s

Long hair.

Zapata moustache.

Flared trousers.

RAF shades.

Period life vest.

An offer from ‘Jeff’ Hawke to fly Right Hand seat with him for a mass formation take off for the cameras.

……….and a bl**dy great bang and fire from the starboard engine on take off.

‘Brenda’s Boys’ in trouble again – Bovingdon 23 May 1978.

I remember the documentary about these coming across for the filming, quite interesting if I remember correctly. There was a section where they were in a formation to fleetwwod mac albatross, quite nice viewing, I’d like to see it again sometime.

Hanover Street.

This was the 1970’s 🙂

The pilots of the B-25s pose for a group shot.

‘Jeff’ Hawke is back row far left.

‘Brenda’s Boys’ always in trouble.

Can you still get the documentary of their flight over to Europe, “Mitchells do fly in IMC” ?

At Sandtoft one of the B25s (or TB-25 ? ) from the film still clings to life. It’s Gorgeous George Ann markings are still visibile.

Anyone know of the situation with the so called restoration of this and the Lanc/Lincoln sections.

best regards steve.
