Sooooooo….where ya from???

Born in Cambridge, lived in Wyton for the first couple of years…then the small village of Whissendine in the smallest county, Rutland until I went to university in Canterbury…then back to Cambridge (well Duxford but then you all know that :)) a couple of years ago.

Imagine yourself this scene:

a beautiful meadow in a nice hilly area, the nearest motorway or indeed airway being 50km away so it is nice and quiet. You picture the scene?

Well, I live about 5000 km away from that place in the (cough) lovely (cough) village of Zelhem. Zelhem can be found, but it is far from easy, in the Achterhoek. Basically, it is one of those places you will only ever visit when you let your wife read the roadmap.

By the way, when you translate the name “Achterhoek” into English you get something like “beyondcorner/backarea”. That should say enough I would have thought.

No seriously, this place is dull.

Born and lived seven years in Jerusalem, moved for three years to the suburbs of NYC (aagh! at least I made lots of friends), lived in Switzerland for 10 years, now in Singapore.

British born and bred. Originally from Gloucestershire, then via university in West London and a brief stint in Cambridgeshire, to the wilds of Suffolk. Gradually moving further East, but if I go much further I’ll fall off the edge 😉

Born under the landing pattern of RAF Brüggen and RAF Wildenrath in the Netherlands in the town of Roermond, but spent most of my youth fifteen kilometres to the West to some craphole, more under the landing pattern of Kleine Brogel which was OK until the 104s got replaced by F-16s.

After that i lived for a while in Amsterdam (Schiphol nearby, the only military aircraft flying over back then were Singaporese Fokker 50s on test- and delivery flights) and Tilburg, within cycling distance of Gilze-Rijen (Dutch Apache base) and Weelde (Belgian gliders, Piper Cubs and storage). Then went back to the Brüggen landing pattern (Wildenrath had closed by then), and now the stovepipes of the NATO E-3A’s at Geilenkirchen pass over my flat.

Born in Beckenham and been living in the area ever since….
Its a nice area .A sort of jewel in the middle of the surrounding s**t areas.And no I am not naming them.People who know the area know what I mean..:) :p

Born in north London, grew up in Hertfordshire, now growing old (dis)gracefully in Cambridgeshire.

I have lived in Norwich Vermont for all of my thirty six years. I look out the window and see the Connecticut river flowing by as I look over at New Hampshire. To be very specific I live on the outskirts of the village of Lewiston, however not many people remember that community. In 1949 a hydroelctric project five miles south of here stuck a knife into the heart of the village and the construction of Interstate 91 finished it off in 1969. Across the river in Hanover New Hampshire is the campus of Dartmouth college.

If there are any other useless facts you would like to know, please ask.

I’m at uni in Loughborough for around 30 weeks of the year, and Leeds for the remainder!
