guess i woke up curious today !
having watched the film flightplan last wk, there is a bit where jodie foster smashes a car window in the cargohold, my question is do cars get put into the hold of passenger flights and is there room to put one in there. the plane in question was a B747, i have seen the cargo version having cars loaded through the nose door but never on the passenger version.

I couldn’t work out the relevance of the title. It struck me that thy just wanted any term that was something to do with aviation regardless of whether or not it was relevant!

You have to give them credit for a good twist in the usually “oh she is just mad” plot… I am surprised no one has ever made a plane like that :rolleyes:

I agree with you, what a terrible and confusing film!
I think with Flightplan, they had a cross between a 747 and the A380 and called it the E-474! What a brilliant idea… :rolleyes:

Could be worse, did anyone see Concorde:Airport 79? I never knew Concorde could do at least 2 full rolls without stalling, crashing or over-stressing the airframe!

I’ve flown cars in the belly of a 767-300. The forward door is just big enough to get cars in. I had a Merc coupe but have seen Lambo’s and Ferraris coming out of them too. It is a tight squeeze though. Has to be on a pallet to spread the load evenly across the floor and to provide securing points as once the car is in, there is no room to get down the side to secure it.

I seem to remember an “Airport” programme where Shaker was loading an aston martin (?) into the hold of an A330 for the middle east. I think it was actually driven inside the hold instead of put on a pallet.

Yup it is possible on the 747, but you can only really fit one or two in, and its a tight squeeze.. You can quite often see a nice Ferrari or Lamborghini on a pallet sitting outside the cargo areas at Heathrow ready for a flight, usually to the US, the Middle East, or the Far East.
