Sounds of Shuttleworth LP

Does anyone have any of the 3 LPs in this series?

Were they ever converted to CD?

Flightstream Productions are no longer in business, and I would very much like to get hold of a digital copy.

Cheers,

SFF

SFF
I have sent you a PM from sunny Bedfordshire.

The original recordings were made with the help of Dave Jones, who is still one of the PA volunteers at Old Warden. They were carried out in the 1970’s and as previously stated of a high quality.

There is a Gannet on one of them as well as several other interesting types.

Yes, they were converted to CDs and last time I visited Shuttleworth they were being sold in the shop.

I have not seen these on sale in the shop for at least 4 years.

Thanks

Just a post to say thanks for all the replies.

Good to know they have been converted to CD. In case anyone doesn’t know, there are some fine recordings on these ’33’s’of Shuttleworth aircraft (and a few visitors), presumably from the ’80s.

There’s an interesting commentary by David Ogilvy to introduce the tracks. I particularly have always liked his preamble to the start-up of (presumably) MH434, before which Mr Ogilvy says (if memory serves me correctly), ‘The Merlin 66 of this Spitfire IX has a rather long and reluctant start, but do listen to the note of the short-stub exhausts’. A fantastic recording, and one to which I had great pleasure in mimicking to my mates as a spotty air cadet teen-ager (and beyond!).

The Sea Fury is the most bizarre/awesome of all IMHO, the track is about 30 secs long, right at the end of one record, with the last pass sounding like a ‘max chat over the speaker’ effort.

Good memories.

Do the Shuttleworth people still find it amusing to play these at high volume in the hangar, so that over-excited aeronuts rush to the entrance, blinking in the sunshine to try and spot the Gladiator (or whatever) that sounds as though it is running its wheels along the hangar roof.

Can’t imagine falling for that myself ! (ahem)

Wot, like they do in Airspace at Duxford. To large to rush to the door I just wondered what I was missing flying outside until the third time I heard it :p

Tried ebay? They appear occasionally, and earlier in the year at least there was an Australian shop selling 2 or 3 of them on ebay too.

In fact, Vol 1 and 2 are available now on ebay – vol 2 for £4.99 as a “Buy it now” item, vol 1 in auction with £3.99 start.
