Dear friends !
Some years ago I have read in book, dedicated to WWII British bomber’s history, the information about the using of P-47 Thunderbolt planes by SAAF. There was the mention about SAAF P-47 in chapter about Wellington bomber history; even P-47’s squadron number was mentioned – 26 sqn SAAF. I have some doubts about this fact.
Maybe, anybody know more about this – is it truth or false ? I heard, 26 sqn SAAF was equipped with Wellington, not P-47… Or, maybe I am wrong ?
In any case: if anybody know something about SAAF P-47 – this information is welcome. Also – if this was truth – any pictures of SAAF P-47 are welcome too.
Regards,
Flyer.

I do not believe that this is correct. I can find no record of a P-47 being registered to the SAAF. Certainly not 26 SQN who operated Lockheed Ventura’s and Vickers Wellington’s.
