Hi ,
Any one see the warbird looking aircraft doing aerobatics over South Norfolk
this afternoon at about 14.00 hrs.
Watched it for about 20 minutes from my place of work, unfortunately it never got close enough for me to identify it exactly.
It sounded a bit like the centaurus of a Sea Fury,I ruled that out given the UK active centaurus population, and the wing shape ruled out Hawkers finest.
Didn’t really sound like an american radial to me ,I wondered if it might be a Yak of some type.
Like I said wasn’t really close enough to identify it,or the see markings,
thought i’d mention it just in case anyone else had seen it.

Anyone know what else is flying at Rougham tomorrow?
Neal
Think there is a T67, 3 Stearmans, 3 Chipmunks and one of the aerobatic guys but can’t remember who.

Relax Steve, a quibble over location from the weird folk of Norfolk isn’t anything to get heated about.
AFH10 – no. Regrettably?
Moggy
I certainally regretted it! 🙂

Haddiscoe (where I grew up and where I’m staying while the builders are in) is South Norfolk. I would class Acle as being the same.

Could of been 92fis as one of those is on list for Rougham and Old Buck

Oh, and for the record I was between Reedham and Somerleyton.
Exactly where I thought it was, given my location.
Why do you clever forumites always split hairs on posts ??
just been reading another thread which went the same way,
why do it ,I was recently chastised AGAIN by a moderator because he felt that my attitude was not forum friendly and turned people off the forum,
well i can tell you clever forumites and the moderators for that matter that all this hair splitting pi**es me right off ,
I thought the idea of a forum was to help each other and share infomation if possible ,but all some of you want do, is try and get peoples backs up.

Ah, I just like it when there is a bit of banter between the North Folk and the South Folk, especially since we are both in the same division again. ‘Twas a bit like my son in law saying that a yellow ‘plane’ has been doing ACROBATICS over his house for the last three Sundays but then again he is one of those NORTH FOLK.:>))

So it is SOUTH NORFOLK as far as I am concerned !!
Who really cares apart from the pilot, South Norfolk North Suffolk could be either in minutes,Steve
Actually I couldn’t give a rats a*** if it was South Norfolk or North Suffolk, I knew where I was and I knew where the airfield was 🙂

Where is South Norfolk then ??
Given the fact that the aircraft was moving around the sky I was unable to record its exact lat/long for the nitpickers,
For the record my current BT phone book covers Lowestoft and South Norfolk ,the aircraft was flying within the area covered by the map in the phone book.So it is SOUTH NORFOLK as far as I am concerned !!

Steve, Sorry but I must agree with AF.
The area roughly halfway between Gt Yarmouth and Norwich (Most likely Acle area), is classed as “East Norfolk”. South Norfolk being around the Diss area.
There has been quite a bit of activity around GY(ish) in the last couple of days. Thursday morning there were a couple of F15’s, which are fairly rare in these parts of late.
Mark (in Gt Yarmouth)

Indeed it was AF, good to see you the other day by the way, same thing should happen this weekend as Wednesday 15th for an overnight if you want to see it flying again (in better weather)!

The location of todays (Thursdays) display was roughly halfway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth if that helps.
A bloke working near me spotted me watching and came over ,
“What do you think it is ” he said
“Not sure” I replied
“Well ,its got the wings of a Hurricane, and the engine of a Spitfire!!!” he said
Couldn’t believe what I was hearing
Didn’t know what to say except “Not even close mate!!”Steve

There is quite often a Yak that does Aerobatics around the Suffolk/ Norfolk border may well have been what it was.
