I’ve just booked an overnight trip to Prague for some spotting with a friend on December 15th and 16th flying with flybe from Southampton on their new route.
I’ve visited Prague 7 times previously but my last visit was in 1997 so the redevelopment work had only just begun, it will be very interesting to see what the airport is like now.
I’ve never flown from Southampton before, I kind of know what to expect but as an airport how would you rate it?

I know what you mean, I have been on the aircraft a few times this year and I am booked for October as well with Flybe. I would love a -Q400 but it is unlikely because Gatwick flights are with the 146. Though if the price is right then I don’t really mind which aircraft I travel.
As Ren Frew said though, savour it while you can because I imagine they will be leaving in the next couple of years for shiny new Boeing, Airbus or Embraer aircraft.

Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of the 146 😀 I just seem to have flown on it so many times this year! 8 times in all! I’d love to fly on a Dash 8 at some point.

Bide your time and as I imagine 146’s won’t be around for a heck of a long time to come.

Yeah, Southampton is a convenient little airport. The terminal I have found to be intimate and suitable for the airlines it serves.
Is the -Q400 or BAe 146 used to Prague?

Thanks Paul that’s great! The flight leaves at 17:15 from Southampton and departs att 20:55 for the flight back arriving at 22:05!

As it is my local airport and I fly from there sometimes it is not bad.
It had good road / rail access and inexpensive car parking compared to LHR/LGW.
The terminal is only a few years old and is still in good condition although the departure area can be crowded at peak times (Saturday PM with 2 x 737 on charter is probably the worse at the moment) Getting into departures can also take a while as they normally only use one of the 2 x-ray machines.
If it is raining you will get wet when departing / arriving as there are no jetways and luggage can take a while to be unloaded when busy.
I think the Prague departure time is late afternoon – 5pm ish with a return at 8-9pm.
hoep this helps.
