Trying to find out details of the raid on Southampton on 30th November 1940, as my Great Grandfather died in this attack. He was William Domoney, aged 72 of 9 Denzil Avenue, but he died at 40 St. Andrew’s Road. He is listed as a civilian casualty on the War Graves Commission website.
Any pictures or information appreciated, would like to trace the aircraft type and squadron(s) who attacked on that day.
As a footnote, I had an Uncle who worked at the repair depot at Hamble airfield, his name was George French and he lived in Netley. I recall he had several old broken instruments from Spitfires in his shed, and grew rhubarb under a cracked Spitfire canopy which he eventually gave to me to play with along with the thick bullet proof front section. Should have kept all those bits?
