Hi all;
Just a quick question for any of those who have been to the joint Southend Airport open day.
As an ex pat Southender :confused: ….I always make the trip to the show at Southend seafront, and have done since it started back in God knows when! However, it has never occured to me to try the open day at the airport instead whilst the show is on.
My question is this…which is the better day out? I only have the one day to play with so I can’t do both on consecutive days, and I will also have a three and a half year old boy with me to entertain as well. (mind you daddy is doing a good job of corrupting him and he can tell the difference between a Spitfire and a Hurricane…bless him 🙂 ).
So what to do folks??…..Get over to the Airport where I guess all the other enthusiasts gather….or go down to the seafront show where all the Chavs gather :diablo: !!….Oooh…almost forgot….how much does it cost to get into the airport, and is the traffic/parking a nightmare.
Over to you folks!
Best wishes;

Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier would always light their hay without making sure us kids were at a safe distance, but then again things were tougher then….

When I were a lad my daddy made me wind up the undercarraige on his Anson by hand – 30 turns it took LOL

When I were a kid, bein’ sucked into intakes were part of life’s rich pattern – how fondly I remember being ingested through an Avon at Biggin Hill 1972 – never did me any harm etc, etc!

It’s top secret but the Airport Open Weekend is actually free admission this year (long story!). Damien’s right about there being less attractions such as funfairs etc. but on the plus side, there is far less chance of a 3-year-old getting lost at the Airport.
When the show starts there is a pretty constant stream of aircraft movements and you can get very close to the action. An added attraction close to my heart is the Vulcan taxi-run after the Typhoon has landed on the Sunday afternoon – 1700 local-ish.

Airport everytime. £5 entry, traffic isn’t a problem.
