All,
I know you’re probably all fed-up with shots from the Southend show, but I thought I’d post a few of mine purely because I got a different view of the show as I was directly underneath it on one of the safety boats.
This was also the first “sortie” with my new digital camera (Canon 300D) so they are not fantastic shots but I like ’em
Here are a few of the Rasta Cat as she flew right over my head – I’m sure I had the best seat in the house 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

MOTF, Miss D has been assessed and the damage is not as bad as first feared. New jetpipe, tailcone and a temporary repair to enable her to transit back to Kemble, followed by re-skinnning of the rear fuse should see her back in the air fairly soon. One caveat, all of the above subject to NDT inspection of the airframe.

Can anyone tell me who was flying the Sukhoi? We all thought he gave the outstanding aerobatic display.
I wasn’t there, but an educated guess says it was Will Curtis, sponsored by Honda.

Having seen her (albeit from a distance) at Southend on Monday – there’s no way she’s a write-off. Reckon Miss D’ll be up and about before too long.

Interesting and hopeful news about Miss D. On another site there is a post saying that she is a write off and has been assessed as such.
Off such stuff legends are made, I hope that Dan is right on this one as I for one will miss that colour scheme.

Latest word on Miss D is that the damage isn’t as bad as first feared, and she might be out of action for a much shorter period than was otherwise thought!

Changing the subject very slightly, did anyone get photos of Miss Demeanour when she got damaged??
I have noticed that the damage is severe enough for her to be pulled from the Kemble Air Day participation list!!! 🙁
I got some as she touched down on a friends 10D – when I get the pics back, I’ll post them if they’re any good.

I watched the Southend show on Monday from a barge and we had no programme information. Can anyone tell me who was flying the Sukhoi? We all thought he gave the outstanding aerobatic display.
Fairly sure it was Will Curtis – his name was on the side!
😮

I think JBS takes better pics than me.
But we are both lovely, positive helpful people too. Ahhh.
Lovely picces all, thanks for sharing.

Has it really been six years since the last Catalina on the airshow circuit?
By: Manonthefence - 3rd June 2004 at 22:52
Dan
I can just see the Cat taxing in with Bob Marley blaring out of the cockpit. 😀
Nice shots

You’re fast off the mark. I edited your name less than two minutes after posting!

JDK,
Thanks for posting that.
Nice to see this thread getting back on topic again.
Ahem, I’m not James (JDK) I’m John (jbs) but thanks anyway 😉

I echo the comments about the BBMF Spit against the backdrop of clouds. Close ups are great, but shots like that are so .. well atmospheric is the best word I can think of.
I’d love to see a larger version of that shot. Is it posted anywhere else on the web in a larger format?
Well here’s another of mine from the Southend show that I really like that falls into this category I think, not a close up but just looks right – hope you all think so too
