Oh… I´ve just seen from your profile that you live in Ormskirk…. still… visit Blackpool anyway… the Pleasure Beach is still open!

Eddy,

Not sure as I´m stuck in Brazil at the moment sunning it up 😀 , but the local papers in Southport and Blackpool normally have a listing.

Also, why go to the posh part of Liverpool 😉 when you can catch the airframes on the ground and within a finger tips reach at Blackpool Squires Gate. I went down there last year… hours of fun. The pilots sit in the public cafe at the airport and openly chat to who ever may venture their way. You might even get invited to look around the non-RAF kit that´s parked up on the apron. Take a decent pair of Binos and you can see the display from the non-scouse side of the Ribble….

I would imagine that the wind has been out of limits for them. IIRC they’re limited to something like 10kts max x-wind or thereabouts.

From what I gather the weather is going to be Crap tomorrow. If anything it will be Worse that to-day. I’m NOT bothering going, and I have heard a lot of people say this.

The Harrier GR7’s didn’t display as it was too wet by the end of the show, the BBMF didn’t display, the Blue Eagles couldn’t display cos it was too windy and wet no parachute drops either hopefully tommorow it will be better weather, all the Helicopters Lynx’s, Gazelles and Chinook also Bell 412 landed on the beach, nice to see the Catalina “Rasta Cat” in the show,

another good display at southport today, the Harrier came today and the falcons managed to jump, as the wind and rain never really materialised, all the other items flew excluding the Lancaster, I am looking forward to next years show

Heard through the grapevine that the Lanc is just about servicable however won’t make displays this weekend, but should be OK for Jersey/Guernsey

From the Linc Lanc Association website-

News Flash: dated 28th August 03
Bad news on the Lancaster front….the tail leg is still causing problems. After flying back from Norwich it had to land at Waddington because of the wind direction. There was a quite bad tail wheel shimmy felt through the aircraft. It looks as though there is some side play in the leg caused by the mountings. British Aerospace are coming to look at the whole mounting assembly but it could be out of action for some time. Will let you know as I do. Definitely off for this weekend, Dakota is doing East Kirby Friday night instead.

🙁
