Space Shuttle grounded until March 2006

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4163908.stm

Should this stay on GD ?
Or would it be prudent to save time and move this over to historic now ?
Your thoughts please.

About time we gave up on this space exploration lark for a while and learned more about the planet we live on – after all, there is plenty left to learn.

ANOTHER SHUTTLE CRASH

I think the last shuttle crashed on re-entry… another coverup. WHY? No big fanfare welcome for the astronauts, like we’re allways used to seeing. No interviews about their near death experience since they came back, IF THEY CAME BACK ALIVE. It just doesn’t look right to me. Things just don’t seem to fit the picture of the aftermath of a mission, that was held up for two years, with NASA spending over $2,000,000,000 (two billion) USD to solve the last shuttles problem. And no big fanfare or interviews? Where are the Astronauts now? Makes you wonder! What DO YOU think?

nope, whats the betting that Richard Branson will try and buy them and make them comercially viable :diablo: 😀

Greg

He already has his money on a Space project with Burt Rutan so i don’t think he will need a Old workhorse like the Shuttle, The Shuttle has done pretty well really despite the project having 2 accidents, The Shuttle was the First re-usable Space Craft and made a lot of other space projects happen.
Due to the Shuttle we came to think traveling to Space was a easy thing to do, Sadly the Accidents proved how risky it is really.

It will be intresting to see what will replace the Space Shuttle, I know the Russians are in early stages of a project, Are the Americans too?.

One will most likely end up at the Smithsonian, and the rest at Davis Monthan

How old are the shuttles now? Old enough to be considered as a museum piece?

I should imagine they’ll end up as soda cans in the not too distant future
