I’ve searched the forums and not seen this anywhere else. Personally, I think it’s an amazing thing to have the first commercial company launch a vehicle to the space station and have it splash down of the Californian coast – a landmark is space history.

Gary I couldn’t agree more. I’m a bug supporter of NASA and all human exploration of the cosmos. I was sad to see the Shuttle go (watched the final launch last summer…my first and only time viewing the launch in person.), but I am immensely excited to see what the future holds!
I wish the folks at SpaceX the best of luck in their efforts. I actually woke up really early last week to watch the Falcon 9 launch via my iPad. Truly a great day for mankinds’ exploration of the cosmos.

A landmark indeed and some reflections on it:

Maybe this thread should be in Commercial Aviation — and maybe that will be renamed Commercial Aerospace someday.
