Hi all,
I know we are lucky to have several spade grip experts on this site so I have attached several pics in the hope that one of them can let me know which type of aircraft this is from.
It has been quite badly fire damaged by the look of it and I am unable to read any markings on the grip.
Over to you….
Thanks in advance
Gerry

If I still had mine, Gerry, next time you were down here we could have gone out for a drive….you could sit in the front seat with your control column and I could have sat in the back with mine!!
PS – I really must get out more.

Cheers all for your assistance in identifying the grip. I’ma bit disappointed that it doesn’t originate from a hurricane or Spitfire.
I have it on loan at the moment so will let the owner know it’s origin.
Many thanks once again.
All the best
Gerry

It is Miles Master front (student) spade grip….AH2040 as BS says…but differs from early 2040s by having a mag alloy grip casting.
Blimey….I just recently had a back seat one! (As kindly identified by Bananasplits)
That is now going on a flying project as a special-mod….but not a Master, I hasten to add.

Cheers bananasplit,
I had considered a swordfish but not a skua.
I know absolutely nothing about spade grips.
I can say that all parts appear to have been together as they have identical damage.
Thanks once again

Spade grip I/D
Hi
The grip is an AH2040 type which was used in several types of aircraft. The column the grip is mounted on is similar to a Hurricane control column top but the bottom of it is not correct for that type of aircraft and as far as i can tell it is of the type used in a Blackburn Skua.
I stand to be corrected as i am far from an expert in these matters but i hope this has been of some help.
