China’s Sukhoi spares deal

Russia’s Sukhoi has signed a $200 million contract to supply China with spare parts for Sukhoi aircraft operated by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
The agreement was signed last year by Russia’s Federal Military-Technical Co-operation Agency, a Chinese source said. A similar contract signed earlier in 2003 through Russia’s arms export agency was valued at $106 million.
Meanwhile, deliveries of 24 Su-30MK2 fighters are under way: the first batch of six platforms was handed over in February and the second in April. The third batch of aircraft is due this month and the final set of six in August.
China is negotiating the purchase of an additional 24 Su-30MK2s.
