It does seem a bit of a forgotten bird.
I picked up a really nice 177 squadron history, “Silently into the Midst of Things” by Atboll Brown and managed to read it in one sitting about CBI Beaufighter ops. Fascinating stuff.
Any other Beaufighter Squadron histories out there that folks would reccomend? I’m not so much interested in the technical bits as I am the people and the Ops.
I have Rawnsley’s “Night Fighter” as well as Brahm’s “Night Fighter”. I’m looking more specifically for unit histories
Thanks

“a private little war” about the banff wing moves from beaus to mossies but worth a read.
lovely aircraft though – keep your prissie mossies, give me a beau anytime.
remember building a big 1/32 scale revell kit once, took ages….matt black, lasted about 3 days, took a nose dive off a shelf…… still, the fun was in the making

417 NFS, USAAF book
Beaufighters in the Night: 417 Night Fighter Squadron, USAAF.
Pretty good read about the Americans and reverse ‘Lend-Lease’ Beaufighters.
