Specially for Stieglitz

L9172, Mike J and myself had a grand day out yesterday at Linkรถping. I couldn’t resist putting this one up as a foretaste of things to come from Mike J later in the week – he spent every possible moment taking photos until we were evicted from the Swedish Air Force Museum after closing time, with L9172 being hauled out of the Gripen simulator. We arrived half an hour before the Museum opened, and hogged the place all day!

Ah, did you notice. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
This one is more right than the red Stearman E75 which I had before.

I am happy with it ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Cheers,

No, I don’t think so. I am taking the bus at EBKT airport at around 6 o clock. I go with the Flanders Aviation Society which is a group of aircraft-enthousiasts who own a museum at the airport here. But maybe wil meet. It’s a tiny world afer all. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Greets,

ASJA in Linkรถping and CVV in Vรคsterรฅs built 57 of them. The ones at the flying school at Ljungbyhed were equipped with a negative-G carburettor and an extra fuel tank permitting 30 minutes of inverted flight – said to have been much appreciated by many instructors and students!

I knew they where built in Sweden but I didn’t know their Swedish name. Good to have this info.

By the way, OO-JKT (or G-STIG) is actualy a plane built in Argentina in 1937.

It is never to late to learn! isn’t it mike J :p

General view

A further appetiser is this corner of the Museum, which has over 60 aircraft in all.
Briefly, Stieglitz, in case you don’t know already, the Focke-Wulf Fw 44J was known as the Sk 12 by the RSwAF, which had a total of 85, many licence-built in Sweden. This particular one, serialled 670, was manufactured in Vรคsterรฅs in 1941, being registered SE-EGB after being sold to a private owner. It was flown at the 50th anniversary of the RSwAF in 1976. The last one was retired from the RSwAF in 1967.

What can I say ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Please don’t stand in front of me then so that I can take a good shot too :p !

I can’t resist to show you guys the photo of the stieglitz where it all started for me. I made my first biplane-ride in this one. Now it is with Glenn Lacey in the UK as G-STIG.
