I’m new to this Forum, and in years gone by this might have already been covered, but…
In about 1990, in a pub in Driffield called the Doune Arms, (which is now a private house), I saw a print of a painting by Fred Groves. It depicted a Hurricane, viewed through the broken windowpane of a Control Tower. Where the glass was broken, you could only see the present day (i.e. peacetime ) view – where the glass was intact, the “1940” image prevailed. Lovely painting – does anyone know either the location of the original, or anywhere I can obtain a print?
Sorry if this is a repeat.

Can’t find a link for the painting anywhere so hopefully Ingrid will be able to post a photo or invite us round to her house as it was well worth looking at the first time! 🙂

Hi Ingrid
Any chance of posting a picture of it? None of the previous links work any more.
Thanks
Peter

Hello Steve and welcome to the Forum. I think it is unlikely you will get an answer from Martyn as he doesn’t seem to have been logged on since his initial enquiry.
Maybe someone else on the Forum would be interested, would it be possible to publish a photo of the painting?

A fantastic painting – I’d love a copy of that to replace the TV! 🙂

I do have the painting,a limited edition.I have tried searching for it before for more details and certainly is very hard to find any information.I have never seen another one,not even on stalls at airdisplays let alone on the internet.
I believe mine was bought in Derbyshire but as it was many many years ago i can’t be 100% certain.

I’m sure I saw prints advertised somewhere a couple of years ago. One of these ‘order now it’ll still be there in time for Christmas’ type adverts. Just wish I could remember where I saw it.Must say I wouldn’t mind a copy myself.
