Spit at Wellesbourne

I posted this in my thread on the Photographic forum, but with no responses.

Is this replica Spit at Wellesbourne Mountford, N3310?

Interesting pictures Mark12.

Maybe we should have a new thread. Pictures of the worst hangers from around the world.

Does anybody know the plans for the Spit at Wellesbourne at all?

The shot was taken at Hradcany.

Interesting, partially buried underground hangars, full of Spitfires…where have I heard that before?

According to the IMDb website and the film’s own site, the locations used were the disused Hradcany Airport in the Czech Republic and Fowlmere in the UK.

My first guess was the latter location for the pic, but surely Fowlmere’s hangar is in far better condition than that??

I think we can assume its the Czech location:

Hang on, there’s some microlights in there. It IS a hangar !

Even Panshanger is tidier than that.:)

Crikey!, I have seen some ropey hangars before…………………

Perhaps it is just a factory/warehouse.

Dark Blue World.

They built about four or five replicas, all based on the BoB film livery so that out-takes could be used.

The one in the first shot appears to have the drop down panel in the lower engine cowling to access the motor cycle engine therein, used to run the prop.

It has the look of a ‘Dark Blue World’ replica.

I will check.

Ah thanks.

Judging by your description of where it was, it doesn’t sound like its moved or had anything done to it since then!
