Spit bits

As most of you will know I’m going to be building (or finishing off) an Isaacs Spitfire replica (see pic).

I wanted to add something to it to give it more of a “fighter” feel, so I’ve decided to make and fit (when the time arises) a working reflector gunsight and Spitfire-style control column spade grip.

Does anyone have any tips on either? Would I be better off using a Harvard spade grip, as Spitfire ones are collectors’ items and thus fetch higher prices?

Hi

If it’s any help: 3299XXX = Main Plane Erection, 3296XXX = Main Planes, can’t quite see the last one but it would also be the Main Plane.

I don’t think they are Spitfire – tantalisingly similar mind!

Your 329 parts could all easily be Stirling. Are there any inspectors stamps?

Hi Julian
I think that the csk screw may be Stirling from a recent conversation I’ve been having with John at the Stirling Project.

In addition to Tony’s finds, can anyone confirm these are Spitfire, I know they have a 329 prefix but what are they ?
Found this morning at a’new’ site

Possibly beyond Deox C, Tony, although it will get a bath at some point. It was crashed, buried, left 30 years then dug up again. Not a great storage method for steel and aluminium.
