Hmm – just perusing the forum and heard the delightful sound of a Griffin/Merlin(?) – opened the window and there she was – a spit flying at about 1500 feet going towards (N)EMA following the A46 near Leicester!!
Blue with invasion stipes and definately a griffin!
any ideas which? Rolls Royce??
made my day! 🙂

Well, at the risk of being proved wrong (which is always welcome!), from your description I would have said it was PS853.
(I almost said it was PM631, but duh! This one’s not flying just now!)

Phil
As it was cruising it sounded a bit different to the ‘music’ we hear at shows! but I think it was definately a Grif – although I would say it sounded both Snarly and Throaty!!

Poorly titled thread.
Thought it was an instruction and spent last ten minutes cleaning the monitor!

Sounds very much like PS853/G-RRGN,Rolls-Royce’s Mk.19. Think there’s a chap on the forum who works on her,so you might get some more definitive info in due course…
