Spit oleo fairings..

Yes another boring querie for the Spit nuts here.Looking at the oleo fairing channels are they both the same?Going to be fun to make but a hammerform looks like the ideal way on the lower flanges. With the set of drawings we have we are flying blind a bit but trying to find similarities between the different Marks(not fun:()..Couple of 3D screenies to show you what we have so far..:D
Any pointers guys??

Hi guys. Thanks for the info. Our legs are the early splined type so trying to reverse engineer the drawings of the various later Marks to suit the early type is frustrating.Nothing a big hammer and some wood won,t fix when we start to build them.

Hi Spitty,

The channels shown in your illustrations relate to the early Mk’s ie I-V etc. As fitted with ‘splined’ gear legs.

Later marks VIII, IX etc as mentioned by Bruce, had one triangular form channel the other being a ‘square’ top-hat section, these for scissor link legs.

Needless to say they are all seperate handed items, pain in the butt to form the flanges that attach the skins, ever changing bevel & profiles!

Also the hole centres that attach the door to the leg are different between the two types. So best check out your gear legs…have fun!

Chumpy.

No, one is a top hat section, and the other is a V section as drawn
