It depends on how you read the sentencence. Original instruments yes. Pedals and a column, yes – but poor quality modern casts with the column wrapped in pic tape

Catalogue states original instruments, control column and foot pedals, but I didn’t look, bit naughty if they weren’t.

I had a good look through the plastic spit at the claimed interior. Other than a few period instruments, easily available on ebay, it was rubbish for relic parts. The wheels were original, but again not in great condition. I must say, wasn’t massively impressed with the items on sale, but I was there for griffon parts not merlin, and as suspected, most of the griffon parts were post war Shackleton. Not everything though, some were on the want list.

Re the plastic Spitfire, yes it was a lot of money but it was complete with a purpose built road trailer and as I understand the cockpit was kitted out with original and replica parts, the control column was meant to be an original??, I don’t think you would get any original Spitfire items or a trailer when you buy a new one. It is not something I would spend money on but I can see it might interest others. It looked in pretty good condition but I didn’t give it much attention. We did come away with the Merlin Wheel case for our Merlin XX rebuild.

As for the plastic one, the buyer will need to spend a few more quid sorting out the wing mounting points. The last time I saw it they were shot.

I think some prices look pretty reasonable going through that list, Shackleton props were good the part Meteor for £550 was good and other bits and bobs.

those lots using the word Spitfire attracted as you would expect higher prices, as for the plastic one, I just don’t see why people get so excited about them, I could have lots more fun with £30k

Looked like a pair of MK VII legs went for a good price?

Merlin wheelcase was cheap, considering how rare they are.

I was at this auction yesterday and auction fever must have struck several people as prices were very high. The GRP Spitfire and trailer sold for £30,0000. Yes 30 K !!. I’d better take mine out of the garden and give it a good clean.
Triple brake gauge £90. Spitfire wreck stuff £400+ etc. Check out the prices on i-bidder

Loads of Griffon parts. I trust the Coventry Shackleton folk know about this lot 🙂

Indeed they do. Bill Richards was one of the SPT Trustees for a long time.

I have no desire to own a replica Spitfire but what kind of price do they go for ? Is there much of a demand to own a fullsize replica Spit by anyone other than RAF stations that want a gate guard. Apologies if it seems as though I’m trolling just genuinely intrigued by something that I perhaps wrongly view as an oddity.

your not trolling at all.
maybe reenactors or to set up in the garden, museum display, charity events the list could go on, 25k new? It is fitted with original kit so that has a value I would hazard a guess at 5k maybe?

Often displayed at military re-enactment events. Or for fund raising.
