Greetings,
Does anyone here know where I could download the sound of a Griffon Spitfire, either start-up or fly past?
Many thanks,
TNz

Photo question
In the link picture below ,could someone please tell me what is the second early camo. painted Spitfire in the picture behind the TFC Spit XIV?

Possibly NH238?

Not likely NH238 – that’s been boxed up for years!!
My guess is it’s probably Robs Lamplough’s MkVIII MV154 in her Pearl Harbor film colours, taken in 2000 at the Duxford BofB show in September.

HI Turbo, I am surprised no-one has suggested the obvious site for a spit sound, This one is a beaut, there is even the suggestion of the charcteristic whistle of the earlier marks, Have a look yourself www.spitcrazy.com
Thanks for the link, Grounded. No sign of any Griffon noises there from what I can see unfort.
I have to say though, the one Christer gave me is just simply awesome. Low level high speed pass of a Mk 14.
I put it on CD and played it though my Hi Fi. It vibrated the walls !!!!!!!

Yep, BBMF Spit VB AB910. Still, nice to see those desert colours flying by! 😉
By: DazDaMan - 12th May 2006 at 22:55
No, true. But with there being only three real ones about (to the best of my knowledge), then we’re not likely to see a real one airborne (although perhaps a Mk22).
I do agree about the 24 – it just looks so *right*. Imagine if we’d had that plane earlier in the war! 😀

70% ain’t quite the real thing, is it.
The 24 is indeed a beautiful version of the Spitfire, very long, sleek and muscular IMO.
By: DazDaMan - 12th May 2006 at 22:35
I’m not sure about a real one, but there was a 70% scale replica being built by a guy in the States somewhere. I did have a link to his website somewhere, but it hadn’t been updated in bloody ages – at least four years!!

Of course,….
Anyway, that leads me to another question.
With the recent (ish) replica of K5054 made and suchforth, is there any possibility of a Spitfire Mk 24 ever taking to the skies again?
We’ve seen just an example of about every other Mark up in the blue yonder so far.

Depends who it’s with, mate. Depends who it’s with… 😉

Certainly not – although try being at the barrier at Duxford, with sixteen or seventeen Spits taxiing past you within about twenty feet of your face! :D:D:D:D:D
Better than sex, Daz ?? 😀 😀 😀 😀

Thanks Funhouse.
I’ve got the noise (music !!) I need from that audio recording.
All of those Merlins and the Griffon engine noises just gives me goosebumps 😮
Am I alone in those having that effect on me ?

Okey,
I too offered to mail a sound file and got confused, thought you wanted it.
