Spitfire 50th – Eastleigh '86 Photos

A few photos. The day was a bit washed out weather wise but it was great to be there. Roland Frassinet flew PL983 in, BBMF also appeared, and poor ML407 had her petticoats blown.

From memory, ‘407’s undercarriage collapsed on landing.

I didn’t see that display in its entirety (And was far too young to remember it anyway), but I do recall a rather forlorn ML407 sat in the hangar, missing out on the fun!

Thanks for showing us these pics, though 🙂

Possibly Stringbag, I know that PL983 did P7350 each did a display. ML407 had to sit it out as it landed wheels up on arrival.

Brings back lots of memories.
My dad took me to Eastleigh that day!
Didn’t a Spit do a fast flypast down the runway?

The Airport has changed immensely since those photos were taken, though the Trilander is still a familiar type in the circuit 🙂
