I am trying to find some information on an accident the befell two Spitfires

All I have is

22nd December 1940: Spitfire’s P9429 & R6914 collided on take off.

Cheers, an old boy was talking in the pub and I over heard him say about it. also said two aircraft took off the main wing of one hit the tail of the other slicing it off sending it to a steep climb stalled out and dove into the ground. 🙁

Air Britain Aeromilitaria has Sgt Townsend (Safe) in P9429 with 611 Sqn but while saying it collided with R6914 on this date, there is NO reference to a collision in the history of R6914

Lovell was wounded in P9429 on an earlier date (28th July 1940) while with 41 Sqn

611 Squadron.

Looks to be F/O Lovell and Sgt Savill (not 100%). Both aircraft repaired.

611 were at Rochford at your date.
