Spitfire AR343

Another interesting Spitfire I came across is Spitfire VB AR343.

In Cato Gunfeldts Spitfire Saga II he lists AR343 as the Spitfire Halldor Espelid was flying when he was shot down by flak over France 27th of August 1942. 331 Squadrons ORB also lists the Spit as AR343.

I was intrigued as 234 Squadron also lists AR343 with the squadron as late as June 1944. This looks to be correct since I found this;

Surely the 331 ORB is wrong which makes me wonder what Spitfire Espelid flew on the 27th.
