Is the Spitfire K-W on display at Donnington Park racing circuit a real aircraft or a model? I’m only asking as I’ve only seen one picture of the aircraft and it is described as a ‘sculpture’ leaving me unsure as to whether it is a genuine aircraft or just a replica.

spifire
The spifire at the aeropark is not the one from Donington race circuit .The Aeropark was offered it but it is damaged and the price was not cheap plus the aeropark already had this one on site.
Im told the race track one is stored in a building on the race circuit
Happy New Year to you all

Was at the BTCC at Donington in May (2008) on the inside of the Craner curves and could not see it where it usually is. The last time i saw it the tail plane was hanging down by about 30 degrees and the paint was faded

Definitely a replica in fibreglass, I believe. There used to be a Hurricane next to it and I seem to remember that a few years ago they were reported as being damaged and generally in fairly poor condition but maybe they have been repaired since then.

I think It’s a replica, At least that’s what it shows as on Google earth. Hasn’t all the real Sptfires that were outside and on poles now been replaced by replicas in this country?
