Hi everyone , does anyone have or would be able to tell me where i could get a repro set of bfp mount castings for a spitfire panel , saw some on spitfire spares but did not like the look of them for that kind of money.
Thanks for the help.

Hello Stuart,
Considering the skills base of quite a few members at this forum, some humility when posting photos home made parts is not a bad thing in my book, but thank you for the kind words. The project is moving forward though not quite at the same pace due to other commitments at the moment, and certainly not quite as far advanced as your own build.
Regards,
Dave

I do love the way that you produce superior quality items, and then say its the best that you can do!
Incidently your project has been mentioned twice today already, and I was going to ask how you were getting on, so ,”how are you getting on?”

Not the most authentic reproductions, but the best i could do from the rather poor photo i have of the blind flying panel mounts. The only dimensions i can be sure of on these, are the hole centers where the top and bottom mounts locate on the main instrument panel.

So if any of you chaps can offer any other information regarding dimensions, i’d be happy to hear from you.
Cheers,
Dave

You go first old bean seeing your a bit ahead of what we are up to.Can show you our nice 3d Cad version of the panel itself though.Funny story really.Spent ages marking out a panel template by hand onto a piece of tin ,complete with all the hole centres, cutouts etc.Took me about 4 Sundays in a row to do it.Turned out great. Then our 3d whizz turns up saying he did one up in Cad in two days…Mongrel.Oh well that was fun I thought….I just love it when a plan comes together like that…..Now you know why I,m on the verge of insanity…….

I think we might be able to get a set of drawings together off an original set of parts to do up a small batch. We have a goose neck made out of sheet steel which we can copy off( don,t think it is original). Will ring my mate who has the lower ones that we can copy off and machine up.
