Hello everybody, after nearly two years I`ve finally managed to get these resized …doh! she was visiting Dunsfold for the filming of Foyles war so I thought it would be rude not to get some shots, better late than never!

First warbird I sat in/on – ’73 ish RAF Church Fenton – “No laddy, it’ll never fly again…” – responsible for my warbird infatuation – happily pushed it around Pocklington and Elvington airfields in recent years!

I’ll never forget when I had a 1/10th scale R/C model of her, and I took it up to my grandparents to let them have a look at it. Unbeknown to me, they had a couple of Polish gents staying with them (they used to take in students when they came over), and I didn’t see that Spitfire for about an hour!! They were taking photos and videos of it to show their friends back home! Oh yeah, and the cat had a gnaw on the rudder – the teeth marks were still in the wood when I eventually sold her!!

You’re really….QUITE emotional about that film, aren’t you?
It would have been so easy to get the details right….still wondering why they did’nt bother…
And there sits BM597, looking spectacular wherever she goes….no faults in her at all, just a beauty of a plane, admired by all who gaze upon her…

You mean like this then? This was from her “Pearl Harbor” filming days.
(Sorry, don’t have a credit for the photo :()
Pearl Harbor….AGHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RF codes= 303 (Kosciuszko) Sqn a Polish Squadron NOT American.
Eagle Squadon insignia= Should be on cowling not the tailfin.
Eagle Sqns= First Eagle Sqn was 71 formed on 19th September 1940 thus saw the later stage of the Battle of Britain, flying Hurricanes NOT Spitfires. The other two Eagle Squadrons were formed after the BoB.
Hollywood= A load of t0ssers that wouldn’t know historic accuracy if it smacked them between the eyeballs!!!! 😡
But I will forgive BM597 as she is a wonderful machine and one of my faves too, especially as she’s been returned to her Polish markings! 😉

One of my fave Spits, ever since first clapping eyes on her (when she still had her clipped wingtips) at DX in 1998.
Na – its to clean, it needs to fly through some serious S&$T and then a hail storm, it would look great then………

Got an 8×10 of her on my wall parked on the grass at Duxford, with an Army Jeep parked by her tail….two of my favorite things in the world (warbirds and Jeeps)….now if we could just work in Hockey we’d have it all covered!
