Spitfire Canopy Construction

Can anybody please tell me what elements or substances were used in the construction and/or operation of the canopies of PRU Spitfires? And which may also have been used in any other parts of the a/c?
This may seem a bit vague but I am attempting to include – or exclude – certain substances.
TIA

Depends on the mark – those with cockpit doors were pretty similar to the fighter variants. Those without – eg PRXIX had a very different system

Qldspitty, Hi,
Mni tks for that. Was the release machanism for PRU canopies much different from ‘normal’ Spitfires? I would be grateful for a brief reply as my technical knowlege of the interior of Spitfire cockpits is somewhat limited(!!).
