Try contacting Stuart Gowans via the International Cockpit Club website – www.internationalcockpitclub.org.uk – see the for sale/wants section – he is doing a cockpit – superbly I might add – he may be able to help you

Hello Peter,
they guys working on the Y2K project have been outstanding with their help and information regarding my own humble project, so it might be worth while if your friend e mailed them.
Bruce has already mentioned Spitfire Restorations. I would just add that Spitfire Resotrations will either provide hard copies of the drawings, or they will e mail them. The latter usually being the same day ( depending on time zones). I have no connection with the company, just a satisfied customer.

Head on over to www.spitfirerestoration.com

They will sell you some of the drawings that are available. However, most surviving Spitfire drawings are not manufacturing drawings, but GA’s. So there is some interpretation to do. Also, you will need to speak to the RAF Museum, who hold what drawings there are, and go through their archive. They also have a number of uncatalogued drawings, which I am told are a gold mine.

He pops up here every now and then to show us how he’s getting on.

The quality of his work is astounding.
