Spitfire detectives!

I visited the El Alamein war museum yesterday and the attached photos are of part of a spitfire ,is there a known history to this ?Inside the museum there is also a tailwheel that looks like a me-109 ,I will post if anyone would like to see it!Also have photos of the different war graves sites if anyone would like pictures I will forward.

That was prompt!I wonder why the the wheels were taken of?Spares for something!? I will be working in Alex for a while if there is anything out this way needs looking at.

There is a comprehensive six page piece in Flypast, June 2001, on how this Spitfire was identified.
