I notice that the recently restored Spitfire Mk 24 at Duxford (VN485) has been restored without the cannon barrells. The aircraft had them before restoration.
Does anyone know why is was restored without the cannon barrells? Also, if I’m not mistaken, the Mk 24 Spitfire was the only version of Spitfire which used the short barelled Mk V 20mm Hispano cannon. I think the Seafire Mk 47also used them. If anyone can confirm, or provide any pictures or drawings, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
