Meanwhile, and a long way off topic – I have just discovered “Facebook Purity” a handy little extension to Chrome, and I think other browsers, that rids your feed instantly of all the sponsored messages and other dross you aren’t interested in.

I suggest any user who would value a more relevant feed

1) Installs it (at your own discretion – I have done only rudimentary safety checks)

2) Donates. I have, just because it has made the Facebook experience as enjoyable as the early days again.

Your wrong Moggs, I simply asked a question that I had put into Google and came up with nothing, asked the question here after.
I just do not need another Store Card

Thought this was a place to ask a question about historic aeroplanes?

instead of someone just being polite enough to say, ” oh I just looked on their facebook for you” and it says dah de dah

That’s exactly what I did.

But you can’t criticise if there is an obvious route to information you choose not to use, expecting others to do the work for you. Or is that me being unreasonable?

Om let me explain myself.
To be honest FACEBOOK seems like an ok place but its like having store cards, its another thing to carry around, I am a simple person and this tread I asked a question but because I do not have that Store card I am told to join instead of someone just being polite enough to say, ” oh I just looked on their facebook for you” and it says dah de dah and I like this place as it covers all aspects and not just the one thing I maybe interested in that day.

Thank you to all for the info relieved,,, is it near Christmas yet? Bahh humbug

Facebook is a superb resource, I found my current rented home with help from facebook members, have photographed the Northern lights via facebook updates, had business bookings for my photo work, made new local contacts for playing in music sessions as well as following aviation happenings . I only post what I am happy for others to know about and can easily delete items of no interest.

They aren’t Oz

Facebook is slotting in to a niche. It won’t replace fora, but it will (already has) certainly reduced them as a first place to look

Twitter won’t replace fora, but it has its uses and abuses.

Instagram … etc etc

Think, before the forum you got most of your aviation news from magazines, they aren’t replaced by the forum, just supplemented.

The information scene is changing; going all grumpy about it because some people post pictures of their dinner makes no logical sense.

As the OED defines a “forum” as “a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged” I don’t see that Facebook and this forum are mutually exclusive.

Why have this forum then? Get rid of this forum and use Facebook. Problem solved.

Trolley Aux, you asked a question, Facebook provided an answer. What’s not to like?
BTW, the engine was shock load tested and proved to be OK.

You would be a ‘lurker’ like some members on this Forum!

You are, and it’s hard to understand why.

You don’t have to have even one friend on Facebook. If they aren’t friends you don’t see their messages

You don’t have to share any information about yourself on Facebook. The kiddy fiddlers won’t find you if there’s no information there.

You can drop into Facebook and find lots of interesting stuff quickly.

Im not into wanting to know someone is drinking coffee or taking a dump.

I asked here because I thought I would get an answer but ehy ho, Facebook the biggest graveyard on the planet seems to of taken over peoples minds.

This is not facebook, otherwise this forum would be superfluous.

Check their Facebook page. All appears to be well.
