Spitfire heading N/West

A Spitfire has just flown over Harlow Essex heading N/W. This is in the new Exclusion zone so I was very surprised to see this today, It may have been the Hangar 11 Spitfire.. light conditions made difficult to see any colours or markings

No reason to be surprised – you just need to file a flight plan (and get it authorised) between 24 and 2 hours prior to departure. If its a local flight starting and finishing at the airport of departure (I recall not going further away than 3nm form the airfield) you don’t even have to do that. This of course applies only to the outer zone in which N Weald is located.

Phew that’s a relief, I had visions of Andy doing yet another Spitfire dig for the TV :p

Both Typhoons at RAF Northolt were U/S, the Spitfire was called in too cover.

[QUOTE= What happens if they take the pilot out though??[/QUOTE]

Well without any past experience the odds of the aircraft crashing in someones back garden may be a little on the high side 😀

Exactly the same as shooting a rogue aircraft down over the centre of London Jeepman…. Even if you do not make it to the target the carnage will be just as bad, and let’s not forget those missiles that miss flitting back and forth over London waiting for gravity to take effect…
