So Hi from from me in the far north of Scotland
I have a couple of questions that i carnt seem to find a answer to!!!! So hoping you may be able to help
1 – The Spitfire and Hurricane wooden jablo propeller’s, are they the same size?
2 – Also the metal thread base of the propeller, would these be the same size and design?
Many thanks in advance

Hi
I know of some original de haviland manuals pre 1939 on the bracket type propellor which was fitted to the early spitfire also some combined manuals on the bracket & hydromatic propellors which fitted to I believe later types as well as bombers which are surplus to the owners requirments and no doubt could be traded off.
Anybody interested PM me and I will forward the persons email addy to you.
Regards
Jay

Hi Martin
Welcome to the forum.
The blades are certainly different, the Hurricane blade generally has a wider chord.
There are also more than one version of the Rotol No5 3 blade hub used on these aircraft, primarily RX5 and RS5, which do have differences in blade shank design as well as the hydraulic cylinder. The actual screw threaded apertures in the hub may be the same on both. The earlier R5 hub has a larger aperture, I’m not sure if that was ever fitted to Spitfires or Hurricanes, more likely the latter if it was.
