I recently spoke to a 14 OTU Hampden pilot who suffered a mid-air collision with a Spitfire doing fighter affiliation on the night of 2 July 1942. The Hampden was P2067 and survived the event, but sadly the Spitfire did not.
Can anyone help me track down the identity of the Spitfire and its pilot please?
Thanks.

If anyone confused by this Air Britain has this incident recorded on the wrong date
“31.8.42 Spitfire IIA P8583 CGS Holmes Farm, Cloot Drove, Crowland, Lincs. Collision “
Sgt Charles Ian Scott death #1382097 death on CWGC is 2 July 1942 – He was from Santiago, Chile
That appears to be what is recorded on the Form 78 (Aircraft Movement Card) see http://www.spitfires.ukf.net/p007.htm
It is probably the date that it was SOC (Struck of Charge).
