Okay folks – here’s a translation from the newspapers:
A legend will become a luxury label !
Swiss Entrepreneur Alexander Triebold has acqured the trademark rights of the legendary British Spitfire Fighter aircraft !
Yesterday at Zurich Airport, news were unveiled what will become of the flying Legend “Spitfire”. Participant in the news-event was Spitfire BM597 that was flown to Zurich by Clifford Rodney Spink.
The aircraft from WW 2 tells of heroism, glory and honour – this shall lead to a new luxury label, which shall appear in form of Leather Jackets, Watches and Glasses; also planned are Perfumes, trousers and tweeds.
I only relate information here and I simply don’t know what to think about this.
Your opinions and insights are highly welcome.

A few out takes from the weekend in St Moritz.
First is of Cliff Spinks and Alexander Triebold from Spitfire Luxury prior to the display.
The others are fairly self explanatory.

We still had to suffer the local Chavs racing around the Streets at 5am. Probably a different class of Chav though.

Our room in Chur 81km north of St Moritz had a view of the Railway station, and we slept to the sound of the local Chav’s racing around the streets. In St Moritz it was 5 star luxury, dressing gowns, slippers, mini bar and a large bubble bath, with a mountain view, it was CHF150 more for the lake side. We still had to suffer the local Chavs racing around the Streets at 5am. Probably a different class of Chav though.

Educational aside.
Drawing on my vast Geman vocabulary of about 6 words, I can say that zimmer means room. With a view presumably, being in Switzerland.

Funny as we were racing through Switzerland we kept on seeing the word Zimmer, no idea what it means in German, but I immediately thought of you 😉

Wearing tweeds to the beach (or anywhere for that matter) is not cool.
And there was I thinking I was at the cutting edge for once. Damn. Tweed beachtowel with Purdey’s logo anyone?

. However this was eased a bit on our return to St Malo, while waiting for the boat, a chap in an Espace alongside us was boasting to his mate that they had covered over 650 miles in the weekend. The present MRS EN830 took great pleasure by remarking that we once had a car like that, slow, and that we had covered 780 miles on Friday alone.

And when they say they will make glasses, for drinking the Spitfire ale form? Or for shading the eyes in the morning after?
They’re also called “beer goggles”, Dave! 😉 :diablo:

Hmmm, there is already a popular Spitfire fashion label that makes clothing it seems according to many websites from all over the world. They design gear for the skater and hip-hop type, and surf and beach wear. If this guy starts producing Spitfire tweeds, won’t people get confused??? Wearing tweeds to the beach (or anywhere for that matter) is not cool.
Actually that brand has a logo called ‘Spitfire charred remains’ it seems! Please do not wear that one to an airshow! http://www.nosocksplease.co.uk/brand/spitfire/

Well whatever you think, the present Mrs EN830 and I had a super time in St Mortiz, met some really nice people (Vanora McIndoe really made my evening, a lovely lady) and woke up feeling very fragile on Sunday morning.
The downside was the 1,600 mile round trip that we endured to be there and the 6 tanks of petrol. However this was eased a bit on our return to St Malo, while waiting for the boat, a chap in an Espace alongside us was boasting to his mate that they had covered over 650 miles in the weekend. You, or more to the point I, learn something everyday.
I think there was a Great Western Castle class steam loco named Spitfire too.

It’s an education, isn’t it.

I’d never heard of the air rifle until yesterday, or most of the things on that list!
By: JDK - 26th August 2005 at 13:11
It’s not MY list, it’s Wikipedia. Don’t tell me, tell them – you can writer your own essay on the air rifle if you wish!
Cheers!

And they still managed to leave out the BSA Spitfire motorcycle and air rifle.
