Someone was asking me what the Speyer aeroboot was like – a quick google found a Czech forum where there were some decent photos:

Near the bottom are several shots of what is said to be a mk9 Spitfire.
So is it and if it is – is it in the book ?
Interestingly – I came across the tail fin in the picture above these – it is now on a US sellers website as a YAK 3 advertised for 3k USD

Hi guys,
Someone pointed me to this thread…
I am the owner/seller of the supposed Yak 3 Tail. I bought this a few months ago from someone I have dealt with many times, so I trust all the information he gave me.
However…
I am not sure who he got it from, or what info may have been “given” to him.
I am not a Russian expert, but the construction, and paint matched identially to other WW2 Russian items I have in my collection, so I had no reason to doubt the provenance that as given to me. In this case:
I was told it was from a Yak 3 that was shot down at the Rechlin Luftwaffe test ground.
It is also certainly not from a Yak 18 as size and hape are not correct…
so now I am at a loss!!
Are there any thoughts on this? Certainly, I do not want to be false-advertising something…
I do not want to take over this thread, so if anyone has any ideas, please PM me, if they do not wish to do so in this thread.
Thanks,
Mike

This is categoricallly not from a Yak-3, neither from any WW2 era Soviet aircraft. Judging by the construction, remaining paint and the access hatch to port, it could possibly have come from a Yak-18T trainer. 1950s-ish sort of time-frame.

Is this at Area 51 lite and will it be at L……….
It is Area 51 heavy.
Volome II for Legends, although it will probably be finished, is likely to be a ‘no no’ judging by the experience of trying to get Vol I printed….but that is basically not my side of the business.

It won’t all be in the Book!
There will be an addendum in Vol. II to pick up late entries. 🙂

Presumably Volume 2 might include an addendum to Volume 1

It IS a Mk.IX Spit, and I’m sure it’s been covered on the forums before now (recovered from a lake, I seem to recall).
It may even have been for sale at the time, but I can’t be certain.
