Hello
Just seen this on another site.
Saw a Spitfire on a lorry, M25 Weds 22 April – which was it?

Good evening,
I was on the M25 on Wednesday 22nd April and overtook a low loader with a Merlin engine on blocks, Spitfire fuselage and wings. I couldn’t take a closer look, but the paint on the wing I could see appeared very dark, as did the roundel. I am a bit of an aircraft nut and pointed it out to my wife who said it must be the one that recently sold. I am pretty sure it wasn’t the Grace Spitfire and wonder if anyone knows its identity. We had just past the M11 so I wonder if it was coming from Duxford or North Weald.
This is my first post on what looks to be a very interesting forum.
many thanks in anticipation of replies.

Hi,
This was not a Spitfire, it was in fact the RAF Museum’s BP Defiant on its way from Hendon to the MAPS workshop in Kent for refurbishment.
She is safely tucked up in the workshop now and work has commenced.
