Thanks Mark12 for posting that photo, great to see the two comparisons of then and now.

Flt. Lt. Rowe-Evans really was a delightful gentleman, really fascinating listening to him earlier on today.

…and ‘here here’ as well! (sorry, I can’t ‘hear’ anything? )

Funny that. I’ve been banging the table for years obviously mummering the wrong ‘hear/here’. Just goes to show etc.

‘Hear hear’ to that! 😀

Wow – looks as good as new! 🙂

Question – why no cannons fitted? Or are these being fitted later?

Well here’s some photos of today, some of the aircraft, some of Flight Lieutenant Adrian Rowe-Evans, who flew this aircraft whilst he was stationed in Hong Kong. He flew this particular aircraft in the Queens Birthday Fly Past in April 1955. I have also included a shot of the conservation team, without whose dedication this restoration would not have been possible. As you can see they have done a wonderful job!

Hope you enjoy these photo’s

Regards,

Did anyone go to the Spitfire Roll Out today at Duxford? The weather was a little iffy but I still managed to take over 100 photos! 😀

A plug for the Spitfire Society.

A see in the latest edition of the Spitfire Society house journal, received yesterday, an article by AVM Geoffrey Cairns on the HKAAF Mk 24 Spitfires accompanied by five superb ‘in service’ colour photographs including a couple of VN485.

Other features include an article by Raymond Baxter on a ‘Special delivery’ to the Hague, an article on AB910 and MK356 sixty years ago by Martin Bowman, air to airs of the Rolls Royce Centenary and a ‘Two for Texas’ article on the latest rebuilds.

Good stuff.

There are some lovely original colour shots of Hong Kong Spitfire 24s (including VN485) in the latest Spitfire Society magazine. 🙂

There certainly are, and there is also a nice piece on VP441 and MK959 by a certain someone who frequents this forum.

Mark my words, its a great article 😉

Nice new paint for a great plane! If only a late model spit such as the MK22 or MK24 could fly …. 😎

Thanks for this pic,
