Yes DaveF68, here on the most complete site of the collections destroyed by fire of the MAE carried out by a friend :

http://www.pyperpote.tonsite.biz/listinmae/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=46:les-appareils-detruits&Itemid=56&layout=default

Thanks Phillippe. I recall at the time it all seemed a bit ‘hush hush’ in those pre-internet days, and reading a report that it was beleived one of those lost was ‘a B-26’ – although it turned out to be the Invader and not the Marauder.

I must admit I always look nervously up at the hanger roof structure at Duxford and Hendon
[all that wood] and not a sprinkler system in sight.

destroyed; Yale, not Texan

Hi,

I see in the listing (nr. 20) that a T-6G Texan, with serial 51-14351 is reported to have been destroyed by the fire in May 1990. I don’t think this is correct. It was later (July 2000) stored at Yvetot (photoproof, and incl dataplate) and later became HB-RDC. Unfortunately she was lost in a fatal accident at Colombier on October 27, 2007 as such.

There was another North American product destroyed though. Noeth American NA-64 “Yale”, with c/n 64-2224, former (NAA64-P2-No.192(FAF)), 3415(RCAF), C-GAPL, N3415C

Regards,

Benno “T6” Goethals

Some friend ! 😡

What is the question?
To be precise, it is Jean-Luc named “Pyperpote”. It is on the Internet for years, we met at Le Bourget, but I do not know his name … This does not preclude friendship animated by the same passion.
Good day !;)

Sorry if ive missed it, but Whats the full name of MAE? and what Fire? 🙂

Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace

17/05/1990 The fire broke out in a hangar of the museum’s reserves located in Dugny. The hangar was outdated. But was stored next to the remains of the UTA DC-10 victim of an bombing.
