She is in poor condition and I would advise anyone to look before buying!

wonder huch second hand merlin engines are worth?

For a couple of thousand you can get an engine from a Mustang…albeit a Ford Mustang.
😀

Too much power to taxi…not enough to fly…not that this “Spitfire” is anywhere near flyable.

Going by the description: Piece of Cake.

has two electric start motorbike engiines. One powers the prop and the other the wheels through a large hydrolic pump and hydrolic motors in the wheels so when restored you could taxi around shouting chocks away

Seems a honest descripcion, anybody know what film it was in ?

This Auction is for a full size model of a spitfire thats seen betted days While buying a chieftain tank in wales for my business www.tanksalot.co.uk i ended up buying the spitfire as well ,It looked a bargain the kit costs about 12k and a finished plane costs about 30k its in fiber glass panels with a steel skeleton and has two electric start motorbike engiines. One powers the prop and the other the wheels through a large hydrolic pump and hydrolic motors in the wheels so when restored you could taxi around shouting chocks away it was used in a film in a scene were several spits were shotup while attempting to tate off.The problem is im jusi coming in to the tank driving season and have over 100 vehicles to keep sorted so
option 1 is to try and find an enthusiastic group of chaps who want to take on a project were i pay for parts and materials and they throw in their time and labour for the fun of it .
Option 2 i cut it in to big chunks and drop it in to the woods were we do SAS woodland patrol and make a very realistic crash site (sacralidge ).
option 3 some one bids above the reserve and we care fully crane it on to a lorry for them.
NOW READ CAREFULLY the main steel frame is strong but rusty some of the thinner internal tin work is rotten and will need replacing ,we had to cut the wings offand they will need strengthening in places and some tubing and spars replacing the drivers canopy is cracked but a new one comes with the plane still in the bubble wrap. The rudder is fine just removed for transport.Dont know the history of the honda 125 and yamaha engines probably standing siezes but you will never need high milage out of them and its amazing what a bit of coka coala does down the bores of a tight engine. The panels around the engine ,12 exhausts and under belly panels are all their just a couple of two foot fibreglass flat wing panels missing and the prop spinner have gone we do have the blades. So bid awayremember their 30kfinished and hire out at £2500 a day but it need s work and a plane anorak not a tank anoraksteering the ship more info Nick on 07860 455636
