Spitfire Out Of Duxford Today?

Can anyone here please tell me which Spitfire it was that I saw climbing out of Duxford today, around lunchtime?

The reason I ask, and the reason I was actually near the place for once, is that my Grandad- WW2 Bomber Command ground crew with 149 Sqdn- passed away on Thursday, and I was just coming out of a florists in Linton, having just ordered my flowers for him to be in the shape of a spanner.

It was a lovely sight and sound for a soul that is currently very upset, and also, one that never usually sees warbirds for real anymore. I’m glad to think that every now and then, there will be the sound of a Merlin over his grave.

I think the Spit might have had invasion stripes, but wasn’t sure; anyone?

Thanks mate.

I suspect that your saintly namesake will be finding that his gates have just been oiled…

Thank you all very much, those kind words are very much appreciated. I would also like to add some further, public thanks, in addition to the private ones I have already sent, to Kev35, for taking the time to send me the very moving private message that he did.
In addition to what I PM’d you Kev, you’ve actually given me another line of thought for the euology that I am currently writing.

Re. the Spit; well, which ever one it was, it’s Merlin was very much appreciated today.

Sorry to hear that, Lancman. My condolences.

As for your Spit, you’ve got a choice of three or four! ML407, TD248 and SM845!
