I should imagine they built more than three of some parts Steve, such as prop blades, hubs, wheels etc, it would drop the price per part and allow for nose overs etc. Would get damned expensive if you had to manufacture a prop blade each time.

I would say what ever the price I doubt that there would be much profit in it considering the amount spent to get 3 of everthing made. Guess profit will be in N3200 & P9373. I wonder how N3200 is getting on & will 9373 be started ??

One of those cases where if you need to ask the price you probably cannot afford it!

You wont get one on here.

If you can afford it, then ask….

I’d buy it tomorrow – but then as I’ll never be in a position to do so, its pretty immaterial!

This is a texan billionaire afterall, i doubt he’ll be losing money; i reckon he’s “parting it out” at top dollar before he corners his own market! £3m anyone?

Good question, most I would say about £1.5 mil plus, but then this isn’t a normal Spit, it would of had to of have had a lot of parts such as the props etc specially produced for it and that would cost, as for other variants the parts are there, double it then add some? but that is my guess, it won’t have been cheap to do, but…. You probably will not get close to what it cost to do if that is the case as let’s face it if you can pick up a new rebuild cheaper

Question. How does one make a small fortune with a Spitfire? Answer. Start with a large one and get someone to restore a Spitfire for you.

Will the buyer get both of them (the one that flies, and the one that came out of the sand)?

Oh cynical 🙂

One would imagine prop wise, tyres etc it will always be a bit limited overseas as the future owner(s) are still going to have to work with ARCO spares wise.

Tony that was in my thinking when i asked about the originality of the rebuild of N3200. Still i will look forward to seeing the finished results.

Yup, and the second is always better cos you make all the istakes on the first one!

(and that was intentional, for the sad-ones)

Indeed!

If I win the Euro Millions, Oily Rag, I might be needing a driver…

First of all I am hoping that P9374 will stay in the UK, the sale of this aircraft is no doubt financing the completion of N3200 as well as going towards the rebuild of P9373.
Can you imagine the scene at Duxford, all 3 of them lined up together? 😎
