Spitfire part ID help.

Hi,

Any ideas what this item is sorry the pic is out of focus. It looks like some sort of electrical component. It has the following numbers on it as well as the Air Ministry Crown.

No 20508/41

VII 12V

7F No 6A/730

Thanks in advance.

yep heated pitot tube….port wing. The whole in the centre supplies the total pressure to the ASI (air speed indicator), on the bit you are missing there are static vents/slits that supply static pressure to the ASI & Altimeter.

Thanks,

Where on the aircraft is it mounted?

Does anyone know if it comes apart and how it works. I’m assuming the pipe in the center delivers air to some sort of sensor, is the coil for de-icing?

Cheers,

Jon

6A/730 is the 12v pitot head.
